  Decker (Walter E. Long) Lake

Decker is one of my favorite lakes around the Austin area to fish. It is another powerplant lake located in North East Austin. The lake recieves minimum ski boat pressure and in the Spring and Fall, you can't beat it for numbers. Quality bass are waiting to be caught in this much vegetated lake. Along most of the banks you'll find Bulrush and also Hydrilla, pond weed and star grass. This lake is only 1,210 acres and the max depth is 60 feet.

Just as with the other powerplant lakes, bass fishing is the best in the Spring and Fall. During Summer, the water gets a little too warm and makes the fish less active. Flipping and pitching jigs, worms and lizards in and around the Bulrush produce good quality bass during these times.
